Jane Davis stocked at Rough Sleepers (Camden)

3 September 2007

Which jewellery designer is a hit with rough sleepers in the city? Following its debut appearance at The Summer Fair held at Excel (Docklands) last month, jewellery brand Jane Davis Jewellery has gone from selling its beautiful handmade jewellery via it’s own line boutique to being stocked in a number of outlets including department stores, gift shops, lifestyle boutiques and spas. The brand who recently was awarded he Guild of Master craftsman is still receiving a high number of trade orders once month on from this event, meaning the brand will be in a staggering number of over 30 outlets by the end of this season. One outlet in particular caught the eye of Head Buyer at Rough Sleepers, based in Camden. Rough Sleepers is a 21st century charity shop set in a beautiful feng shui-ed space right in the middle of Camden. It sells contemporary menswear, womenswear, accessories and art handpicked by manager Katsu, with all the profits from Rough Sleepers going direct to Novas, a charity which helps homeless and socially excluded people. Walk through the door of Rough Sleepers and you could easily mistake the shop for a hip boutique in Paris, Japan or South Molton Street. Designed by Sonoko Obuchi, the interior is stark white, gallery style. Metal poles mimic the shape of a giant shopping trolley, shop worker Manuel told me, that this is to reflect how supermarket trolleys are used by homeless folk to transport belongings. A glass case houses accessories where selected pieces from the Jane Davis collection will feature. "We were immediately drawn to the Jane Davis collection because of its unique and exquisite beauty, which mirrors the high end design aesthetic of Rough Sleepers. Rough Sleepers though a shop where all the profits go into charitable initiatives to help the homeless and socially excluded has gone for the quality designer market which Jane Davis seamlessly fits into because of the exclusivity, handmade and beauty aesthetic that the brand adheres to." Katsuhide Nakabo Store Manager Rough Sleepers Why not pop in to see the jewellery for yourself or simply view on-line at www.janedavis.co.uk - this brand is proving to be the next big name in the accessories market. Rough Sleepers is at 43 Chalk Farm Road, Camden, London NW1 8AJ. Phone: 020 7485 4848.

3 September 2007

NEW STOCKIST OF JANE DAVIS JEWELLERY The Jane Davis Brand continues to go from strength to strength at the moment. The latest stockist is Bermondsey 167, which is due to officially open in the first week of September (exact date tbc). Bermondsey167 is a newly opened lifestyle store offering an exclusive range of designed pieces for the home and contemporary lifestyle to include a new range of clothing, soft accessories and beautiful jewellery. Owner, Michael Mc Grath comments, “I came across Jane Davis Jewellery at the Summer Fair trade event at Excel in June, and was instantly drawn to the unique and interesting array of jewellery that largely consisted of pieces made using semi-precious stones, fresh water pearls and swarvorski crystal. It was Jane 's technical ability and craftsmanship on this hand-made jewellery that impressed me and invited Jane to join us on a joint collaboration project - Whilst we had the designs and the materials we needed to work with a company that could make our designs reality and we found this in Jane Davis Jewellery. The M2CG range of Jewellery in collaboration with Jane Davis Jewellery will be available exclusively at bermondsey167 from September 2007.
